Big Time Rush Wiki

"Words Mean Nothing" is an unreleased demo recorded by Kendall Schmidt, that may have been intended for Big Time Rush. A 17-second snippet from the song was leaked onto the Internet in June 2012,[1] with the complete demo being uploaded one year later, in June 2013. Metadata in the leaked MP3 file suggests the song was recorded in 2011,[citation needed] and by extension, that the demo may have been an outtake recorded for the band's second album, Elevate.

Throughout 2011, while developing their sophomore album, Big Time Rush recorded over 50 songs in total.[2] The creative process saw the band members become increasingly involved in the songwriting, meeting in the studio with various writers and producers for dedicated writing sessions, together as well as individually. In October 2011, shortly before the album's finalization and release, Schmidt said he had written at least "4 to 6" different songs by himself.[3] In January 2012, during an album signing in Germany, Schmidt told reporting outlet YAGALOO that "a few" of those songs were influenced by what he jokingly called "heartbreak mode," after recently breaking up with a girlfriend.[4]

All those crazy things you said
Was it real or can I just wake up instead?
And all those memories that we had
Mean nothing if I have to start again
I miss those times when it was easier

And I can never figure out
Just what you're thinking, baby
I'm always wrong
We say we're both on different roads
But pretty baby, maybe, maybe
These words mean nothing at all

I see you time and time again
When my friends, they ask me, I tell them we're just friends
I want to know just how long this can go on
But I'm not giving up, I'm not giving in
I miss those times when it was easier

All, nothing at all
Nothing at all
Nothing at all

Chorus 2x
