Rick James received a songwriting credit because the song samples Eddie Murphy’s 1985 song "Party All the Time".

Background

Producer Nick Furlong said of the track, "I used the chorus Rick James wrote for Eddie Murphy's 80s hit "My Girl Wants To Party All The Time" to make a catchy new summer song for the guys, one that could also work for radio."

Before release, the song was previewed during the third episode of The Forever Tapes, on the band's YouTube channel.
