Kendall Schmidt first alluded to "Get Up" in December 2012, tweeting the lyric "They'll never leave us broken hearted tonight no!" with the hashtag #BTR3rdAlbum.[2]

On April 29, 2013, it was announced that "Get Up" would be included on 24/seven.

Prior to the album's release, a demo featuring only Kendall Schmidt's vocals was leaked online alongside several other songs from the upcoming album. This demo did not feature the electric guitars present in the final mix, resulting in a calmer, acoustic sound.

"Get Up" was featured in the final episode of Big Time Rush, "Big Time Dreams". The boys are chosen to sing for a mac-and-cheese commercial, in which they perform "Get Up".

Lyrics[]

Get up, get up, get, get, get up
Get up, get up, get, get, get up

You're gonna love this, just wait
Take my hand, don't hesitate
Come on and follow my lead
I've got a bag full of tricks, come roll with me
We're picking up from where we started
We're gonna take it one step farther
They'll never leave us brokenhearted tonight, oh

Chorus:
It's time to get up, get up, get, get, get up
If you're tired of waiting
It's time to get up, get up, get, get, get up
If you hear what I'm saying
Then we could have it all tonight
It's time to get up, get up, get, get, get up
If you're tired of waiting

I know you'll love this, let's go
Get there fast and we'll take it slow
We're gonna live out our dreams
You and me together, no make-believe
We're picking up from where we started
We're gonna take it one step farther
They'll never leave us brokenhearted tonight, oh

Chorus

We're picking up from where we started
We're gonna take it one step farther
They'll never leave us brokenhearted tonight, oh

It's time to get up, get up, get, get, get up
It's time to get up, get up, get, get, get up
Up, up, up, up to

Chorus
