"Famous" is a song by Big Time Rush. First heard in the pilot episode Big Time Audition, "Famous" continued to have brief features in subsequent episodes, before having its official video released on YouTube on June 25, 2010, and being broadcast on Nickelodeon starting the following day. On June 29, 2010, the song was released as the band's fourth official single.[2] Although "Famous" did not make the final track listing for Big Time Rush's first studio album, BTR, it was included as a bonus track on the record's international re-release. It was also the B-side of the 2010 single "Til I Forget About You".

Background[]

The music and lyrics for "Famous" were written by professional songwriters Andreas Carlsson and Desmond Child. Alex Papaconstantinou and Marcus Englöf joined the two writers for the track's production.

Despite Big Time Rush's version being featured in the show's pilot episode in November 2009, a version by Swedish girl group Play was released on February 15, 2010. Play's version shares the same credits as Big Time Rush's release, with the exception of Papaconstantinou and Alexander Almonte, who only worked on the BTR and Play versions, respectively.[3] According to record producer Bryan Todd, "Famous" was originally written for and recorded by Big Time Rush, with Play's version being created second, though it was released before BTR's.[4]

Music video[]

The accompanying music video was released on June 25, 2010. The video intercuts shots of the four members singing together with footage from their first ever live performances.

Lyrics[]

Do you want to
Ride in a big limousine
Tell me, do you want to
Take a little bite of the fame machine
If you want to be discovered
And end up on the cover
Of every star-studded supermarket magazine
You can do it
Stick right to it
It could happen tonight

[Chorus]
You want to be famous
You want to be the one who's living the life
You want to be famous
You want to be the one who's taking the free ride

Do you want to
Cut to the front of the line
Baby, do you need to
See your name in lights just like the Hollywood sign
Come on, we gotta work harder
Fight the fight together
Take you to the top
We've got the winning team
It's your moment
You can own it
It's the American dream

[Chorus]

All day
All night
The camera's on and it never lies
You're under the spotlight
24-7 till the end of time

Whoa, oh-oh
You want to be famous
Whoa, oh-oh
You want to be famous

[Chorus]

Your song is on the radio
Hot rotation video
Bright lights, fan mail
Paparazzi on your tail
Tour bus, private jet
Thinking big ain't failed you yet
Just one thing you can't forget
Takes more than just wanting it
Aim high, never rest
Put your passion to the test
Give your all, never less
Famous means that you're the best

You want to
Ride in a big limousine
I know you want to
Take a little bite of the fame machine
If you want to be discovered
And end up on the cover
Of every star-studded supermarket magazine
It's your moment
Try to own it
Like the American dream

[Chorus]
You want to be famous
You want to be the one who's living the life
You want to be famous
You want to be the one who's taking a dream ride

You want to
Cut to the front of the line
I know you want to
See your name in lights just like the Hollywood sign
I know what you're thinking
Who do you think you're kidding
With a million dollar love
And without a dime
You can do it
Stick right to it
It's just a matter of time

[Chorus]

All day
All night
The camera's on and it never lies
You're under the spotlight
24-7 better get it right

Oh, oh-oh
You want to be famous
Oh, oh-oh
You want to be famous

[Chorus]

Your song is on the radio
Hot rotation video
Bright lights, fan mail
Paparazzi on your tail
Tour bus, private jet
Thinking big ain't failed you yet
Just one thing you can't forget
Takes more than just wanting it
Aim high, never rest
Put your passion to the test
Give your all, never less
Famous means that you're the best

Trivia[]

  • An alternate version of this song was made (presumably recorded on April–May 2010) where each band member gets their own individual part in the song, in addition, the second and fourth verse of the song was cut out from this version. This alternate version was never officially released and was only ever used on the episode "Big Time Concert" and on most live performances of the song.
