"Count on You", alternatively titled "Countin' on You", is a song featured on Big Time Rush's first long play, BTR. It is a duet with American singer-songwriter Jordin Sparks, with all four BTR members together delivering one side. It was featured and performed in the Big Time Rush episode "Big Time Sparks", in which Sparks also guest starred. The instrumental is also used throughout the show as background music, often in moments of calm or sensitive interactions between characters.

Composition[]

"Count on You" was written by Carmen Michelle Key, Nicholas "RAS" Furlong, Kasia Livingston, and Sammy Kuya and Bobby Kuya of Kuya.[2] This song on BTR was the first ever placement for Nick Furlong, who has continued to work with Big Time Rush into their comeback era.[3]

The song was recorded in March 2010 at Chalice Recording Studios in Los Angeles, California, at the same time that the episode "Big Time Sparks" was filming.[1] Production and recording were helmed by Eman Kiriakou, with additional engineering by Jens Koerkemir.

The band has spoken highly of working with Sparks.[4]

Lyrics[]

Now I'm about to give you my heart
But remember this one thing
I've never been in love before
So you gotta go easy on me
I heard love is dangerous
And once you fall you never get enough
But the thought of you leaving
Ain't so easy for me

Pre-Chorus:
One, don't hurt me
Two, desert me
Three, don't give up on me
What would I want to do that?
Four, don't use me
Five, take advantage of me
Make me sorry I, ever counted on you

Chorus:
One, two, three, four, to the five (baby I'm counting on you)
One, two, three, four, to the five (baby I'm counting on you)
One, two, three, four, to the five (baby I'm counting on you)
One, two, three, four, to the five (baby I'm counting on you)

Understand I've been here before
Thought I found someone that I finally could adore
But she failed my test, got to know her better
Saw I wasn't the only one
But I'm willing to put my trust in you
Baby you can put your trust in me
Just like you count to three, you can count on me
And you're never gonna see no
Numbers in my pockets
Anything I'm doing girl I'll drop it
For you, 'cause you're the one I'm giving my heart to
But I gotta to be the only one

[Pre-Chorus]

[Chorus]

I really hope you understand
That if you wanna take my hand
Then you should put yours over my heart
Promise to be careful from the start
I'm trusting you with loving me
Very very carefully
Never been so vulnerable
Baby I'll make you comfortable

[Chorus]

Now I'm about to give you my heart
So remember this one thing
I've never been in love before
Yeah you gotta go easy on me
