Big Time Movie is the first Big Time Rush movie and aired on March 10, 2012. It features Big Time Rush travelling to London for their world tour, where they also have to save the world.
Summary[]
In Big Time Movie, Kendall Knight (Kendall Schmidt), James Diamond (James Maslow), Carlos Garcia (Carlos Pena Jr.), and Logan Mitchell (Logan Henderson) head to London for their first world tour. But when their bags are switched at the airport, they inadvertently gain possession of a fearsome, gravity-defying device (named "the Beetle"). Hot on their trail are henchmen, British secret agents, Swedish spies, and an evil billionaire named Sir Atticus Moon. Moon wants the device so he can rule the world.
Once they learn they’re carrying this precious cargo, the guys get pulled into a James-Bond-esque mission—while also trying to make it to their concert on time. With the help of teen spy Penny Lane, they set out to save Penny’s father (MI6 Agent Simon Lane) and stop Sir Atticus Moon.
Plot[]
The film begins with Big Time Rush as a group of secret spies. They work together to save a princess from an evil mastermind, who plans to activate Britain's supply of nuclear bombs and "rule the world." After they defeat the villain and rescue her, however, it is revealed that the event is nothing more than Carlos' dream. The real Big Time Rush are on a plane to London, where they will begin their world tour. Carlos says he's been having recurring dreams of becoming a spy (something Logan claims is silly). Gustavo and Kelly wish only for the tour to go well, while Katie wants to become a princess in England.
Once they arrive in London, we see a man running from airport security. He's carrying a dubious (and girly) backpack. He quickly swaps it with a similar bag on its way to the baggage claim. He is captured soon after and taken to the home of billionaire businessman Sir Atticus Moon. Moon wants the device stored in the backpack, which he can use to conquer the world. Upon discovering that the agent switched bags, he orders his henchmen to find the true backpack.
Back at the boys' hotel, it's revealed that the girly backpack belongs to Kendall (it was a gift from a fan). They are thrilled to discover that they're staying in a luxurious suite—though, by order of Gustavo, they cannot leave it. After unpacking, Kendall discovers that his bag holds the device Moon is after. When he switches it on, all objects in the room start to float (via an anti-gravitational force). As soon as it's switched off, everything crashes to the floor.
Immediately afterwards, a handful of secret agents arrive and demand that the boys surrender "the Beetle." Suddenly, an attractive and mysterious girl crashes through the window, brandishing a dart gun. They all manage to foil each other's attempts to get the bag, and the boys are able to escape through a fire exit.
Meanwhile, at the British Intelligence HQ (MI6), it's revealed that the man who swapped the bags was a secret agent named Simon Lane (who the agency believes has gone rogue). They also zero in on BTR, believing them to be suspects. Their "evidence" is a video of Gustavo claiming that they will "crush London, conquer the rest of Europe, and rule the world." Although he was only referring to the success of their upcoming tour, MI6 takes it as a threat of world domination.
Big Time Rush flees to Chinatown, where they research Moon. They quickly realize that he had something to do with the Beetle's creation. They're ambushed by the spies once again, but this time, the same mysterious girl saves them with her spy van. She tells them that her name is Penny Lane and that she is Agent Lane's daughter. She believes that by offering the Beetle, she can free her father and still defeat Moon. Once they realize that they're now wanted criminals, they agree to help Penny. In return, she will help them clear everything up and get them to their concert rehearsal (which she does).
Through a few mistakes from both sides, Penny and the boys are able to escape Moon's clutches. They retreat to a secret hideout, where Agent Lane himself assures them that he will prove his innocence to the MI6 and get the Beetle into safer hands. Unfortunately, as he is preparing to leave, Logan accidentally shoots him with a tranquillizer dart (disguised as a pen). According to Penny, the dart's effect lasts for twelve hours.
Back at the hotel, Katie has been trying to set her mom up with the "Duke of Bath", who she believes is royalty. However, she is stunned to discover (through a commercial) that he is actually a toilet salesman. Before she can inform her mother, she is kidnapped by Moon. He then sends a message to BTR, demanding the Beetle in return for her safety. Carlos realizes his dream is coming true, and that Katie is the "princess" they have to rescue.
The guys and Penny assure Kendall that they will save his sister in time. Though, they are hindered when the Beetle accidentally ends up in the back of one of Moon's trucks. Ultimately, they decide to use Carlos' dream as a guide on what to do. Their solution: put on tuxedos, equip themselves with weapons (Logan decides to use the dart pen), and ram Penny's spy van through Moon's gates.
Back at Moon's castle and MI6 Headquarters, it's revealed that Moon plans to use the Beetle to knock the moon out of orbit—thus, triggering a multitude of natural disasters on Earth. Just as the moon is about to align itself with his laser, the boys and Penny arrive. Carlos and Logan beat up the guards, while Kendall works to free Katie. Moon projects a force field around himself and sets off the laser, initiating his plan. Luckily, James (with a kiss from Penny) finds the courage to fall onto Moon from a balcony above him. This deactivates it just in time, saving the planet.
Moon grabs Katie and runs outside. In a last attempt to recover his plan, he puts a gun to her head and demands the Beetle. Realizing he must give in to save her, Kendall reluctantly tosses it to Moon. Just before he catches it, Katie stomps on his foot, making him hunch over in pain. The Beetle latches onto his back and activates, causing him to levitate into the sky. Kendall happily reunites with his sister.
The MI6 agents arrive, having learned of the band's innocence from Gustavo and Kelly (whom they had spent several hours torturing). In exchange for the boys saving the world, they transport them to their concert in a helicopter. Fortunately, they arrive just as the tour manager is about to cancel it. The boys sing "Elevate" to the roaring crowd. In the audience, Mrs. Knight calls things off with the Duke, since she hates toilets.
After the concert, the guys prepare to tour London for the night. However, their "tour guides" are revealed to be the two Swedish spies who ambushed them earlier. The spies request that BTR have a concert in Sweden, before driving off without them. Penny pulls up with her father (who has finally regained consciousness) and offers to give them a tour of the city, provided they can make a few "stops" along the way. The boys pile into the van, with Penny and James sharing a quick smile. The door closes and they all drive off.
